What is cellulite?
Part 1
The short answer is this:
Cellulite is a word which describes the bumpy and dimpled appearance of skin usually on the lower body areas (butt, hips, thighs, legs) and sometimes in other body areas (stomach, arms).
The word was thought up at a beauty spa in Europe, back in the early 1920’s, simply to give a name to this unwanted appearance of the skin.
So, it’s not actually a “thing”. It’s not a certain type of fat in the trouble spots or problem areas. It’s not a skin problem. And it’s not a build up of toxins under or in the skin.
The appearance of the bumps and dimples, which we all refer to as “cellulite”, are actually the result of atrophied muscles beneath the skin. This is the main reason even “skinny” women are faced with this problem.

Cellulite On a Skinny Body
Those muscles need to become firm, toned and strengthened. When they are, they gently push outward against the skin layers making it even and smoothly tightened, dramatically reducing the bumps and dimples; and sometimes getting rid of cellulite completely.
There are some women who have the appearance of cellulite as early as puberty, while others don’t see it show up until after pregnancy of one or more children.
Again, it’s important to note that women do not have to be overweight to be challenged by cellulite issues. It has nothing to with weight. It’s a body composition issue which is directly related to muscle density.
